(October 3rd, 2007) -- Round 2 of the Stars West Series Tyler spent Labor Day Weekend with his teammate and close friend Camden Giese along with his family to test at another new track for Tyler which would prove to be very productive for both Tyler and Camden. Tyler Thomas Motorsports would like to thank Giese racing for their friendship and welcoming us into their home for the weekend, Tyler and I had a great time.

We returned to the track on Wednesday before the race and prepared for Friday practice Tyler and all of his teammates were running well on practice day, Saturday was an exiting day for team TopKart. Tyler set fast time and won the prefinal with an awesome last lap pass for the lead going into the corkscrew to win the prefinal.

The final was one of the most exiting race of the year in more ways than one with Tyler only 40 some points out of the lead for the Stars West Championship, his nearest competitor had to finish 5 or 6 spots behind Tyler for Tyler to take the lead in the Championship. Tyler would lead all of the laps in the final except the last lap at the line, Tyler let the second place driver take the lead with his normal last lap pass at the end of the front straight but that played right into Tyler’s plan. With Tyler close behind the new leader with his normal actions looking to see where Tyler was behind him, letting off early, and/or brake checking and even trail braking on the straights in an attempt to get Tyler to run into him or let off for him to keep Tyler behind him. Going into turn 10, the leader looking over his right shoulder went into turn 10 too high and Tyler made his move on the inside to take the lead back, the other driver going in the corner too high hung a wheel off coming out of turn 10 and ran off of the track. (other drivers and many eye witnesses were very consistent in this recollection of this event) the other driver cut the track by at least 2 corners and re entered the track in 4th position at the line it was Tyler Thomas in 1st followed by Santino Ferruci, Camden Giese, and Sage Karam.

After 2 hours of official discussion The finishing order was Camden Giese, Sage Karam , Tyler Thomas. We were very very disappointed with the accounts that the officials came up with, ignoring all of the eye witness accounts and taking the win from Tyler and costing him all real chances to win the Stars West Championship.

Sunday was a calm day with the results from the day before behind us, Tyler had one goal and that was to win. Tyler would time in second, finish the prefinal second, and while running 3rd in the final a bump from behind ended Tyler's race early and took any chance of the championship away. It was an awesome weekend with a dark cloud over the questionable official decisions. Tyler will have to go onto the next race and try to get another on track win!!
