Race Report: Tyler Thomas Motorsports at 10 & 65 Speedway - Carrollton, Missouri KART Mid America Sprint Series in conjunction with Central States Super Series

Written By: Tyler Thomas Motorsports

(May 2nd, 2006) -- The weekend started out wet with only 1 dry practice before qualifying on Saturday afternoon which with the Central States Super Series and Mid America Sprint Series combined put almost everyone on very equal playing fields with only a few home town entries with a slight advantage over the out of town entries. This weekend Tyler ran 2 classes Yamaha Jr. Sportsman and 60cc TAG.

Tyler has not ran the Tag 60 since the Tag World Championships in October 2005. With the new rule package in Tag for the Comer 60 Tyler wanted to use this race to compete against some of the top drivers in the Tag 60 class. Qualifying in the 60cc Tag turned out well for Tyler against the largest field of the day, there were 15 entries and Tyler sat on the pole with a fast time of 43.94 and was 1 tenth quicker than the second place qualifier.

Yamaha Jr. Sportsman, Tyler would time in second place of 12 entries with a time of 45.06 and the pole sitter Jake Cole timing in at 44.87. Tyler was pleased with his qualifying effort considering the amount of dry practice. He basically qualified with an out of the truck setup.

Sunday would be a wait and see situation anticipating a dry practice run in round 2 of practice, Tyler opted to skip round 1 of practice due to the rain almost all night Saturday night and the wet track conditions. Luckily all of the rest of the event would be run in dry conditions. Tyler started on the pole for the 60cc Tag pre final and he would lead every lap and go on to win the pre final. His results would sit him on the pole for the final.

The next class he would start on the outside pole of the Yamaha Jr. Sportsman pre final and would take the lead going into turn 1 of lap 1, he would never look back and take the win setting himself on the pole for the final in this class as well. Tyler was very exited to be setting on the pole for both classes and would show his talent and skill in both finals.

60cc Tag Tyler would take the lead in turn 1 and pull out to about a 4 second lead and placed himself accordingly to take the win with a 4.187 lead over Chris Barngrover and Mario Nigro for second and third.

In Yamaha Jr. Sportsman, Tyler would repeat his performance from the race before and would lead every lap. He stretched out his lead and paced himself at the end of the race to take the win by 7.62 seconds over Jake Cole and Chris Barngrover who finished second and third.

The MASS and CSSS Combined event was a great success and we are looking forward to any other combined races in the future. These types of races tend to have the big race atmosphere and it is always very exiting to race against new faces that you hear about, meet lots of people, and make lots of new friends. Thanks to all of the people involved in making these types of events happen and look forward to more in the future.
